Why do I get charged a personalization fee, when I don't add a name?

The personalization fee covers the cost of customizing the product, which includes both design and text. Even if you don’t add a name, the design itself is considered a form of personalization. We start with a blank product and apply the custom design as well as any text, so the fee accounts for the customization work involved.
